Manual Therapy

Manual therapy for want of the better description involves the use of the therapists own hands and would usually with be referred to as a manipulation, mobilization or adjustment depending on the healthcare practitioners particular paradigm.  Various health care practitioner's in the Kinetics Clinic consisting of Physician, Chiropractor, Physiotherapist, and Registered Massage Therapist all perform manual therapy. Manual therapy is used to treat dysfunctional joints which may be stuck in an abnormal position or to mobilize a stiff tight joint or muscle.  It may even be used  to breakdown scar tissue if it has developed due to disuse or other causes.

Particular areas were manual therapy may be very helpful is in the treatment of spinal pain involving the lumbar, thoracic and cervical areas as well as in treating cases of sacroiliac malalignment.  Other conditions which may be successfully treated by manual therapy means in all stiff arthritic joints, frozen shoulder and myofascial trigger points.  This is by no means a complete list and a discussion with one of the Kinetics practitioners will identify of your problem is amenable to manual therapeutic means.
